Hotel Negresco ( 640x480 )
Negrasco Hotel is overlooking the famous Bay of Angels and it dominates the promenade des Anglais. Its exact address is 37 Promenade des Anglais, Nice 06000, France. The Hotel was built in 1912 by Henri Negresco, the son of Rumanian innkeeper, who left home at the age of 15, in order to travel around Europe. After Paris and Monaco he settled in Nice, where he became a director of the Municipal Casino. At this time he became quite famous between richest people of the world and he wanted to build a hotel prestigious enough for his clients. The architect of the building became one of the most talented architects of that time Edouard Niermans, the famous pink dome was reportedly made by with Gustave Eiffel. Two years late, when the World War I broke out the hotel was turned into hospital. Wealthy clients left French Riviera and the Hotel was in severe financial difficulty and it was sold to a Belgian company. In 1957 the owner became Augier family. In 1974 The Negresco Hotel was classified a National Historic Monument and in 2003 it was listed in a National Historic Building what is well earned recognition for the Hotel.

Today is the Hotel one of the few remaining privately owned places. Jeanne Augier has created a unique living museum out of it. Throughout the hotel, epic periods in the history of France are represented, from the renaissance to the 3rd Millennium. Madame Augier has amassed an exceptional collection of paintings, antique furniture and rare object d’art that can be admired in the public rooms, guestrooms and corridors of the hotel. Five centuries of art and history rub shoulders: from the classical and historical paintings of the royal portraits in the Salon Louis XIV and Salon Royal to such contemporary artists as Moretti, Dali, Sosno, Gruau and Nike de Saint-Phalle. Besides all the artistic values, there are luxurious decorations and furnishing, rooms with mink bedspreads. The doorman is dressed in the manner of the stuff in 18th century elite bourgeois households.

The decoration of each one of our 121 guestrooms and 24 suites has been inspired by the most outstanding periods of French art and history. Rooms have been individually decorated to reflect styles as different as Louis XIII and art deco. The most recent technology has not been forgotten and every room is equipped with LCD television sets and ADSL Internet access. The Hotel Negresco has 9 luxuriously decorated reception rooms with a capacity of up to 600 in conference formation.
