Fremont Troll
The Fremont Troll is hiding beneath the Aurora Avenue Bridge (also called George Washington Memorial Bridge). The Troll is holding a real Volkswagen Beattle car in his left hand.
Next to the statue of The Fremont Troll, there is a plaque donated by Acu-Line Corporation bearing the text:
"The Fremont Troll was designed and built by Steve Bedanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter and Ross Whitehead, with help from the community. The Fremont Arts Council sponsored the project, which hoped to build a greater sense of place in the neighborhood through art, and with it a stronger community. The Troll was selected in an open competition in which the community voted on proposals designed by four finalists. Many volunteers helped prepare the site and create the ferro-cement sculpture. Support came from time, money and in-kind donations by the community, and the grant from the Seattle Neighborhood Matching Funds Program. Maintenance is provided by the Fremont Arts Council and you. Please leave the site cleaner than you found it."
The Fremont Troll sculpture is 5.5m (18ft.) fall and was made in 1990. Every year, in October the 31st, the community pays tribute to the troll. I is called the Trollaween party, starting under the Aurora bridge. The Fremont is a funky art place of the Seattle, and you can find there also the largest Lenin statue in the US brought from Poprad in Slovakia.
