Empire State Building is one of the most famous buildings all over the world. For a long time it was the tallest building in the world (from 1931 to 1972). It has been declared to be one of the seven wonders of modern world by the American Society of Civil Engineers. It is located in New York City on 350 Fifth Avenue, between 33rd and 34th Streets, in Midtown Manhattan. Since September 11, 2001 it has again become the tallest building in New York.

The construction of Empire State Building began on October 1, 1929 and was completed on May 1, 1931. The style it was built in is Art Deco. The building has classic façade. It was designed by Shreve, Lamb and Harmon, the general contractors Starrett Brothers and Eken, and other mechanical and mechanical engineers. John J. Raskob and Pierre S. DuPont financed the construction. The design of the building is marked by several setbacks, which gives it its unique silhouette.

Empire State Building is 1,250 feet (381 metres) high and together with the antenna is its height 1,453 feet (443metres). It has 102 floors. The floor area together covers 2,200,000 square feet (200,000 square metres) and there are two extra external acres. On the first 85 floors, there are offices; the 86th floor is an observatory area with 360 degree views of the city. Remaining 16 floors represent the Mooring Mast and the Spire—which today is the Broadcast Antenna. The last floor was originally meant to be the landing platform for Dirigible. Now there is a smaller and completely enclosed observatory. The building weighs approximately 330,000 metric tonnes. It has 6,500 windows.

There are three entrances, all of them leading to 2-story-high corridors (which are crossed by stainless steel and glass enclosed bridges at the 2nd floor level) around the elevator core. There are 73 elevators and 1,860 steps to the top floor in the Empire State Building.
