The Bear Stearns Building is also called 383 Madison and it is located in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. It occupies the full block bounded by Madison and Vanderbilt Avenues and 46th and 47th Streets. This office building is the 88th tallest building in the world. It is the World Headquarters of investment banking firm Bear Stearns.

The Bear Stearns building is 230 metres (755 feet) tall and it has 47 floors. The construction of the building was finished in 2001 and it was opened in 2002. The architect was David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. It is an octagonal-shaped tower built in stepbacks standing on the eight-storey square podium base. The main material used for construction was granite. The top of the building is created by 7-storey tall glass crown, beacon, that illuminates at night. Its height is 21 meters (70 feet).

On the site of Bear Stearns building there was another building proposed to be built in 1980s. It was supposed to be a 72-storey G Ware Travelstead designed by Kohn Pederson Fox. This plan was never realized because it was banned by the city.

Bear Stearns World Headquarters was chosen as one of the best new skyscrapers of the year 2001 and it won BOMA (The Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater New York) award.
